'Bridge of Spies' Trailer: Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg Take On the Cold War
The film will be released Oct. 16.
Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks' first partnership took them to the World War II battlefront in Saving Private Ryan. Now for their fourth film together, the director-actor duo take on the covert politics of the Cold War.
In Bridge of Spies, Hanks plays real-life Brooklyn lawyer James Donovan, who is charged with negotiating the release of two captured American U-2 pilots from East Berlin. In the latest trailer for the film, we get a glimpse into the public persecution that Donovan and his family had to endure as he worked to free a soviet spy for a proposed trade.
Joel and Ethan Coen penned the Cold War-era script along with screenwriter Matt Charman. Mark Rylance, Scott Shepherd, Amy Ryan, Sebastian Koch and Alan Alda also star in the film.
Bridge of Spies will be released theatrically on Oct. 16.
