Brie Larson to Star in 'Kong: Skull Island'
She'll join Tom Hiddleston in the King Kong origin story.
Brie Larson has signed on to star as the female lead in Legendary's Kong: Skull Island with Tom Hiddleston.
The King Kong origin story will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts from a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein. Kong: Skull Island is an origin story taking place on King Kong's island as a team of explorers trek into his home.
Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons were previously attached to the project, but have since exited. Russell Crowe is a contender for one of the male leads, but at this time he's just being eyed for the role and has not even read the script or received an offer.
The film will be released by Universal in 3D and Imax on Friday, March 10, 2017.
Larson can currently be seen in theaters in hit comedy Trainwreck. Her upcoming films include Digging for Fire and Room, directed by Lenny Abrahamson. She's repped by WME, Authentic Talent and Literary Management and Sloane Offer.
