Brillstein Entertainment Signs New Overall Deal With ABC Studios
The company's TV division, behind the new ABC drama "Resurrection," also brings on Robin Schwartz as its new president.
Brillstein Entertainment Partners are staying in business with ABC Studios. The company announced a two-year overall deal on Thursday, just weeks after ABC picked up the new Brillstein/Plan B drama Resurrection for the 2013-14 season.
Coinciding with the new first-look deal, OWN and Regency TV vet Robin Schwartz heads to Brillstein's TV division as the new president. She replaces former head JoAnn Alfano, who will now serve as executive producer on Resurrection.
“We are grateful for the continued support of our friends at ABC Studios and excited about our new first-look arrangement," said Brillstein CEO Jon Liebman. "Robin Schwartz is a terrific executive and her broad experience and talent relationships make her an excellent choice to lead and build our television group. We are happy for JoAnn, who is a great friend, and we are looking forward to working with her in the next chapter of her career.”
Schwartz's TV career started at NBC where she served as vice president of primetime series and children's programming. She went on to run Regency Television and oversaw the launch of OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. She was OWN's founding president and most recently served on the advisory board of a large digital media company.
"Brillstein has long been one of the standard bearers in our industry, and I am thrilled to be working with them, as well as ABC Studios," said Schwartz. "I am very excited about the opportunity to create entertaining and memorable television alongside such creative and talented people."
