Brit Awards 2015: Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran Double Winners
Madonna also took a tumble on stage, while Kanye West was the butt of several jokes.
Kanye West was the figure of fun at the 2015 Brit Awards, the U.K.'s major music industry ceremony held in London on Wednesday night.
Following his near stage invasion at the Grammy Awards, the Brits' comedy duo hosts Ant and Dec made West the butt of several jokes.
"If he thinks Beyonce deserves your award, just give it to him," they advised winners at the start of the show, then later commended the fact West was "still in his seat" when Taylor Swift accepted her award for best international female.
West performed new track "All Day" at the event, complete with a stage full of backing singers, some brandishing flamethrowers, prompting the hosts to suggest that he was the "only performer guaranteed not to be interrupted by Kanye West."
Much of the song was actually muted on the broadcast by U.K. channel ITV, reportedly due to "compliance reasons."
Swift's win at the Brits was her first in the eight years she had been performing in the U.K.
While on stage, she thanked her close friend Ed Sheeran for "showing me how to make a cup of tea and taking me to the pub."
Sheeran went home with two awards on the night: best British male solo artist and British album of the year, the latter seeing a standing ovation from the crowd. "It's been a very good year for British music," he said.
Another double winner was Sam Smith, who was named British breakthrough act and took the global success award.
Mark Ronson, who picked up best British single for Uptown Funk thanked "the world's most talented Hawaiian, Bruno Mars."
Madonna closed the show, performing at the Brits for the first time in 20 years. However, the singer took a major tumble on the stage, falling down three steps as her cloak was removed by a backing dancer.
