'Britain's Got Talent' Ratings Drop for Second Live Show of Season
The Simon Cowell talent show on ITV averaged 8.2 million viewers with its second semifinal show, falling behind the network's soap opera "Coronation Street."
The second live semifinal episode of the eighth season of Simon Cowell talent show Britain's Got Talent on ITV drew fewer viewers on Tuesday than the equivalent episode in 2013.
The episode averaged 8.2 million viewers, down sharply from Monday's episode and down by more than 800,000 viewers from the equivalent episode last year.
The first live semifinal on Monday had peaked with an audience of 11.5 million and averaged 9.6 million, down about 700,000 viewers from the first live show last year.
The Tuesday performance also meant that BGT, for a change, wasn't the highest-rated U.K. show of the night, falling behind the average 8.6 million audience for ITV soap opera Coronation Street.
The final episode of BGT is set to air on June 7. ITV last year secured Cowell's BGT and The X Factor for three more seasons. The BGT judges are Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.
