'Britannia High' on ITV's fall schedule
Modern variety show, live soccer among other highlightsLONDON -- Musical extravaganza "Britannia High" and live soccer matches form the backbone of an ITV fall schedule that has younger viewers in its sights, director of television Peter Fincham said Wednesday.
"Britannia High," a high-energy drama about young showbiz hopefuls at a performing arts school, is aiming to attract a younger demo to primetime. While ITV hopes that hard-to-reach young male viewers will flock to its coverage of the FA Cup and European UEFA Cup Champion's League soccer matches it recently secured for the next four years.
Other schedule highlights include "For One Night Only," billed as a "modern variety show" that brings comedy, music and entertainment acts back to Saturday nights, and the new Lynda la Plante thriller "Above Suspicion."
Fincham will take the podium at next week's Edinburgh Television Festival for his first public appearance since taking over his ITV post.
