British Independent Film Awards Set 2014 Date
The celebration of all things independent in the U.K. is scheduled for Dec. 7, with nominations to be unveiled Nov. 3, organizers said.
British Independent Film Awards organizers said Wednesday this year’s gongs will be dished out Dec. 7.
The venue for the U.K.'s second most prestigious and well-attended awards after the BAFTA film awards is likely to be at the same venue as last year, Old Billingsgate, although organizers are still to confirm.
And the nominations for the indie plaudits will be announced Nov. 3.
The awards, now in their 17th year, have also said cheers to a sponsorship renewal with Moet & Chandon, marking the champagne supplier's fifth year as main sponsor.
The dates come as the awards throw open the doors to submissions.
The biggest winner at 2013's awards was Sean Ellis and his film Metro Manila, which picked up a trio of awards including the best British independent film and best director.
The awards were created by Raindance in 1998 in a bid to celebrate merit and achievement in independently funded British filmmaking, to honor new talent, and to promote British films and filmmaking to a wider public.
