Under the agreement, Universal will exclusively manage back-room distribution services for all Broad Green titles for Blu-ray and DVD.
In a bid to strengthen its output capabilities, Broad Green Pictures has inked a multiyear deal with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
Under the agreement, Universal will exclusively manage back-room distribution services for all Broad Green titles for Blu-ray and DVD, with Broad Green Pictures continuing to handle sales and marketing across all platforms.
The announcement was jointly made by Broad Green's president of home entertainment Steve Nickerson and John Morici, managing director U.S. and Canada at Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
Founded in 2014 by Gabriel and Daniel Hammond, Broad Green will distribute up to 16 specialty and wide release films per year across multiple platforms. The deal allows Broad Green to establish the upstart’s home entertainment distribution infrastructure.
"Partnering with Universal Home Entertainment allows us to develop a strong distribution model that sets up the studio for lasting success," Nickerson said. "I have had the pleasure of working with their team many times in the past, always with successful results, and am confident that our partnership will yield positive growth for Broad Green."
Added Morici: "We are very pleased to enter into this exclusive collaboration with Broad Green Pictures and its team of highly creative and savvy executives. Pairing Broad Green’s fast-growing entrepreneurial company with Universal’s distribution infrastructure effectively positions both of us for long-term success."
Broad Green's slate includes 99 Homes, A Walk in the Woods, Infiltrator, Brain on Fire, Samba, I Smile Back and Learning to Drive as well as Terrence Malick’s Knight of Cups, Voyage of Time and the director's untitled project film starring Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Michael Fassbender.
