Brooke Shields to Play Morticia on Broadway's 'Addams Family'

Brooke Shields will replace Bebe Neuwirth in Broadway's The Addams Family this summer.

Neuwirth is leaving the show after 15 months.   Shields' performances will begin June 28; Neuwirth's last performance is June 26.   Roger Rees took over the leading man role of Gomez from Nathan Lane in mid-March.   Shields has previously taken over four Broadway roles in productions that began with other actresses, notes the New York Times: Roxie Hart in Chicago, Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Rizzo in Grease and Ruth in Wonderful Town.
