Brown at home at Scripps

Overseeing HGTV, Food Net sites

Deanna Brown has left Yahoo! Inc. for the newly created position of president of Scripps Networks' Interactive Group.

Brown, who was GM at Yahoo! Media Group's Lifestyles business unit, will oversee Scripps' Web sites for its HGTV and Food Network brands as well as a dozen broadband channels focused on such topics as kitchen, gardening and crafts.

"Deanna is exactly the person we need to add to the tradition of innovation and growth that Scripps Networks has built in the interactive space," Scripps Networks president John Lansing said. "With her experience and leadership skills, we will continue to extend our interactive business beyond our existing brands to include the entire food and shelter categories."

At Yahoo!, Brown was responsible for repositioning Healthy.Yahoo.com and launching the cooking and recipe-centered site Food.Yahoo.com.

Before Yahoo! she was vp and GM at AOL's life management division.

"Scripps Networks is fast becoming synonymous with all things food and shelter, which presents a tremendous opportunity in the media marketplace," Brown said.
