Bruce Beresford books 'Get It at Goode's'
Film based on Madeleine St. John novelCANNES -- Bruce Beresford will direct the romantic comedy "Get It at Goode's," an adaptation of Madeleine St. John's novel "The Women in Black."
Guy Pearce, Monica Bellucci and Miranda Otto will star in the pic, which looks at a group of employees in a high-end salon an early 1960s Sydney department store, with the arrival of a young Italian woman (Bellucci) prompting change and drama at the store.
St. John's novel was published in the U.K. 15 years ago and became a best-seller in Australia when it was republished there several months ago.
Beresford, best known for "Driving Miss Daisy," was recently attached to post-apartheid drama "The House Gun.'
Samson Prods. is producing the pic, while the Little Film Co. is handling international sales at the Festival de Cannes. Production is scheduled to begin in Sydney in October.
