Bryan Cranston to host 'Saturday Night Live'

Marks actor's first appearance on live sketch comedy show
Emmy winner Bryan Cranston will host "Saturday Night Live" on Oct. 2, the actor announced on an ESPN radio show, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The television vet's guest hosting stint will mark Cranston's first appearance on the live sketch comedy show.
The former "Malcolm in the Middle" patriarch won his third straight Emmy this year for his work on AMC's "Breaking Bad."
Cranston will be the third actor on an AMC series to host "SNL." "Mad Men's" January Jones and Jon Hamm recently exercised their comedy chops.

It was confirmed exclusively to THR in early August that Jane Lynch of "Glee" would be hosting an October episode.
