BSkyB, Sony extend pact

LONDON -- BSkyB has extended its output deal with Sony Pictures Television International, giving the satcaster exclusive U.K. premiere TV and PC rights to such movies as "Spider-Man 3," "The Da Vinci Code" and "The Pursuit of Happyness," it was announced Tuesday.

Under the terms of the deal, Sky will air the movies across its premium movie channels as well as on its PC-based broadband service Sky Anytime, which allows customers to download movies to view on their computers.

Titles also will be available on the new Sky Anytime service that allows customers with PVR and high-definition boxes to access some titles on-demand.

The deal was negotiated by Lisa MacDonald, controller of acquisitions for Sky Movies and Sky Box Office, and Danny Goldman, senior vp sales at SPTI.
