Burke, Roth catch Lifetime 'Fever'
EmptyDelta Burke and Andrea Roth have been tapped to star in "Bridal Fever," a Hallmark Channel original movie set to air next year.
Roth ("Rescue Me") will play Gwen Green, an aspiring editor at Hearts Afire Publishing who is desperate to find Mr. Right, but to no avail. Gwen is assigned to work with top romance novelist Dahlia Marchand (Burke), who introduces her to a handsome man ready to settle down. With everything starting to move quickly, Gwen starts wondering whether the perfect wedding is really what she's looking for.
Gabriel Hogan and Melinda Deines also have been cast.
David Kenin, exec VP programming at Hallmark Channel, said the movie will appeal to the network's audience for several reasons.
"It's a very cute script," he said. "It's about human relations, about people caring about other people. And our audience just loves weddings and marriage and celebrating long unions."
"Fever" is being produced by Whizbang Films. Orly Adelson ("3: The Dale Earnhardt Story") and Frank Siracusa ("H2O") are the exec producers; Ian McDougall ("Nuremberg") is the producer. The trio also are working on another original telefilm for Hallmark titled "The Good Witch," starring Catherine Bell and Chris Potter.
Ron Oliver ("A Dennis the Menace Christmas") is directing from a script by Karen McClellan ("The Best Years"). The movie is in production in Toronto.
Burke's recent credits include her role as Bella Horowitz on ABC's "Boston Legal" and an appearance on Fox's "The Wedding Bells." Her upcoming credits include the movie "Southern Baptist Sissies." She is repped by ICM and manager Andy Howard.
Roth plays Janet Gavin on FX's "Rescue Me." Her upcoming credits include the movie "The Skeptic" and the telefilm "Temptation" for Lifetime. She is repped by Domain and Anthem Entertainment.
McDougall is repped by Lenhoff & Lenhoff.
