Burnett, AEG go live with TV, stage deal

Reality producer Mark Burnett is joining forces with concert promoter AEG Live to translate some of his television content to the arena stage.

AEG Live has presented stage versions of Fox's "American Idol," Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana" and USA Network's "Nashville Star."

Burnett's multiyear deal with the promoter allows a partnership to develop and produce live entertainment and tours based on Burnett's reality and game show properties. On the flip side, the deal also gives AEG a foothold to produce reality shows with Burnett based on its live entertainment properties.

"We firmly believe in live entertainment, and we're working on a number of projects with AEG that cross live television and nontelevised live entertainment," Burnett said. "We have always believed that the next logical stage of development for many of our most popular television reality programs would be to live-action events."

No projects have yet been specified, but Burnett said announcements are forthcoming.
