NEW SPT ROLE FOR BERGER

Sony Pictures Television said Monday that it has promoted Eric Berger to senior vp mobile entertainment and digital networks. Berger joined SPT in 2006 as vp mobile entertainment. In that role, he helped to launch video services on mobile operators including Verizon, Sprint and AT&T.

MONEY TALKS

AC/DC's next studio album will be exclusively sold at Wal-Mart stores in the U.S., the Wall Street Journal reported. The as-yet-untitled Columbia album, the Aussie band's first since 2000, is expected in the fall. AC/DC becomes the latest veteran act to pact exclusively with the retail giant, following Garth Brooks, the Eagles and Journey. Columbia and Wal-Mart declined comment to the Journal.

NEW LEASE ON SECOND LIFE

EMI Music has hired Cory Ondrejka, co-founder of Linden Lab, creator of the Second Life virtual world, to push forward the music company's digital strategy. Ondrejka is tasked with driving innovation around new revenue opportunities and building a "world class" engineering team for EMI.

IT'S AN HONOR

The New York Production Alliance today will present this year's Phil Dixon Award for commitment to the New York film, TV and commercials biz. Honorees are Stuart and Alan Suna of SilverCup Studios, Paul Moore of the Motion Picture Editors Guild and Terry Lawler of NY Women in Film and Television.
