'GTA IV' is a killer

"Grand Theft Auto IV," which was released in April, has one of the strongest brands in recent video game history thanks in large part to satisfied customers who previously purchased titles in the series, according to a new Nielsen Games study. The survey of 6,000 gamers found that "GTA IV's" unaided awareness was second only to the 2007 best-selling "Halo 3."

FRIENDLIER CABLEVISION

Shares of Cablevision Systems rose 4.1% on Monday after an analyst said that the company's top execs and shareholders, including the controlling Dolan family, were becoming more investor-friendly.

HUAYI OFFERING

Huayi Brothers, "China's Warner Bros. for tomorrow," plans to list its shares domestically in the fourth quarter to raise several hundred million yuan. It would be the first initial public offering for a Chinese film studio.

carmike cuts loss

Carmike Cinemas on Monday reported a second-quarter loss of $2.2 million compared with a loss last year of $47.6 million. Revenue fell 8% to $118.2 million.

NAPSTER Q1 LOSS GROWS

Napster reported a fiscal Q1 loss that rose 3% to $4.4 million on revenue that fell 6% to $30.3 million. Subs fell 7%.
