Where to Buy Chance the Rapper's Festive Red Overalls
His signature dungarees got a holiday-ready makeover.
Chance the Rapper's signature drop-crotch overalls got a festive makeover for his performance of "Finish Line" on the Casey Affleck-hosted episode of NBC's Saturday Night Live on Dec. 17.
The fire-engine red wool dungarees ($400) are by Chance's go-to designer, Sheila Rashid, who also was responsible for the custom-commissioned khaki pair worn by the rapper in the SNL promotional photographs. He paired the look with a "Chance 3 New Era Cap" ($45) from his own merchandise collection.
Rashid, a 27-year-old self-taught designer based out of Chicago, has outfitted Chance in several colors of the unisex bibs, which the rapper has since made his unofficial uniform. Thanks to stylist Whitney Middleton, who also hails from the Windy City, the 23-year-old "Same Drugs" singer has worn the overalls everywhere from the stage to red carpets (including the MTV VMAs) to magazine covers.
But Chance isn't the only rapper in the game brining back the '90s staple. Tyler the Creator has been known to rock bright pairs from his own Golf Wang collection (similar to those he sported in his childhood), which are available in Cookie Monster blue and forest green corduroy versions. Zendaya, too, wore a pair of Rashid's signature creation while filming the "My Jam" music video, proving that the trend reaches far beyond the denim overalls spotted on supermodels. And the '90s live on.
