'Pirates,' 'Memoirs' among titlesBuena Vista International Television has signed a video-on-demand rental output deal with U.K. telecom giant British Telecom, which is due to launch its BT Vision television, broadband and on-demand platform before the end of the year, the companies said Thursday.
BT Vision customers will have on-demand purchase access to features from Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone and Miramax. The nonexclusive deal will make such titles as "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," "Memoirs of a Geisha," "The Shaggy Dog" and "Scary Movie 4" available to BT Vision customers.
BT Vision CEO Dan Marks said the two companies will work together to develop cutting-edge digital services for consumers.
"We look forward to working with Disney to develop and use innovative technology to continue providing our customers with choice, convenience and control over their movie-watching," he said.
Tom Toumazis, executive vp and managing director of BVITV, said the deal would expand consumer options.
"As flexibility and choice of content become increasingly important factors to the entertainment consumer, we're pleased to be working with BT to offer this strong selection of our movie titles to BT Vision's customers across the U.K.," he said in a statement.
