Family feature was written by Oscar winner John Briley.
Canadian indie producer Byron Martin Prods. and British partner Westwood Prods. have pacted to produce the family feature The Great Baby Blue, written by Oscar-winning screenwriter John Briley (Gandhi, Cry Freedom).
No director is yet attached to the drama about Baby Blue, a greyhound mothered by a red-eye rooster that can outrun every man, animal and truck in Kansas.
Byron Martin and Terence Marcel and Andrew Grocock of Westwood Prods. are to produce the picture to be shot in Ontario and Florida.
The project is structured as a co-venture.
"It's a rare opportunity to be a part of a special project like this -- an Academy Award winner's screenplay," Martin said.
