CAA has hired motion picture literary agent Jelani Johnson, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. He will be based out of its Los Angeles office.

The addition is particularly noteworthy given the general dearth of individuals of color across the agency ranks. Johnson was a founding partner of The Mission Entertainment, a management and production company that focuses on representing diverse content creators. Johnson now returns to CAA, where he began his career as an intern. He also was previously a manager at Generate.
