CAA Signs 'The Fits' Filmmaker Anna Rose Holmer (Exclusive)
She won raves at Venice and Sundance for her feature directorial debut, which follows a young African-American tomboy who goes from boxing ring to drill team.
CAA has signed The Fits filmmaker Anna Rose Holmer, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.
Holmer's feature directorial debut has gone from Venice grant recipient to Sundance darling to distribution deal in fewer than two years. As one of three winners of the 2014 Venice Biennale College, she won $187,000 to make The Fits, which premiered at Venice the following year. THR's David Rooney praised Holmer's "lovely character portrait" of Toni (young newcomer Royalty Hightower), a young African-American female boxer suddenly thrust into the world of adolescent girls when she decides to join the drill team.
Oscilloscope Laboratories acquired the film's U.S. rights ahead of its screening at Sundance and will release the movie on June 3.
Holmer continues to be repped by Management 360.
