Cable Companies Win Top Marketing Awards at EuroSummit

Cable operators NPC Netherlands, Telenet and Virgin Media were recognized for their ad campaigns' outstanding creative achievements at the two-day confab in Madrid.

MADRID – Cable operators NPC Netherlands, Telenet and Virgin Media won the Cable Telecommunications Association for Marketing's top prizes in the Creative Awards Program at the CTAM EuroSummit Friday.

UPC's campaign to introduce Horizon TV received the Gold Award in the campaign category, followed by Virgin Media's Q1 Collection and Sky Deutchland's Live Spot UEFA Championship campaign.

Telenet's "Comedy Show Great Wall of Fire" took the Gold Award in the Business 2 Business category, with UPC Austria and SPT Networks coming in second and third.

Virgin Media's "Wifi on the Underground" campaign was voted the top Brand Building Campaign, with Portugal's Zon coming in close behind with its "Iris by Zon-Fibra Timewarp" and Netherlands' Ziggo's "From Signal Provider to Entertainment Company with Music" campaign taking the Bronze.

"The standard of entries this year was high, with some very eye catching and resonating campaigns and creative pieces," said Krisztina Homolay, managing director of CTAM Europe. "It’s clear from the entries that many of the cable operators and content providers face similar market challenges regardless of their geography and audience.”

The EuroSummit, held this year in Barcelona, is considered the marketing event of the year for the European cable industry, attracting 300 executives last year from 25 countries, representing 75 companies from the cable, content, technology and new media sectors.
