Cablevision, Scripps ink new carriage deal

Food Network, HGTV returning in cabler's New York markets

NEW YORK -- Cablevision Systems and Scripps Networks Interactive have reached a new carriage deal that will bring Food Network and HGTV back to Cablevision markets in the New York tri-state region beginning Thursday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Food Network and HGTV had gone dark on Cablevision cable systems at midnight Jan. 1 as the two companies couldn't agree on terms of a new carriage agreement.

"Cablevision has been a valued distribution partner, and we're gratified that together we were able to reach a successful conclusion that will benefit their customers and viewers of our networks," said John Lansing, executive vp of Scripps Networks.

"We'd like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we worked with Scripps to reach an agreement that is fair," said John Bickham, Cablevision's president of Cable & Communications.
