Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel Comedy 'Sex Tape' Moves Up One Week
Sony will play its Sex Tape one week earlier this summer.
The comedy starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel will open on July 18 instead of its original release date of July 25, the studio announced Friday.
The film reunites the Bad Teacher co-stars with their director, Jake Kasdan. It follows a couple who make a sex tape, only to discover that it has gone public. They go on a mission to reclaim their lost footage, leading to even more trouble. Rob Corddry, Ellie Kemper, Jack Black and Rob Lowe also star.
Kate Angelo, Segel and Nicholas Stoller wrote the script from a story by Angelo. The film is produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch.
The original release date of July 25 would have seen the film go up against wide releases Hercules starring Dwayne Johnson, Scarlett Johansson actioner Lucy and dance movie Step Up: All In.
The new July 18 date pits the film against Andy and Lana Wachowski's Jupiter Ascending, horror sequel The Purge: Anarchy and animated film Planes: Fire & Rescue.
