Canadian Series 'King' Starring Amy Price-Francis Sells Globally
Beta Film closes licensing deals for the crime series with Germany, France, Italy, Australia and South Korea.
COLOGNE, Germany - The Canadian crime series King starring Amy Price-Francis is going global following a series of deals by sales outfit Beta Film that will take the show to small screens across Europe and Asia. Beta closed licensing deals for the Indian Grove Productions/Shaw Media title with M6 in France, VOX in Germany, pay TV network FOX in Italy, Net 5/SBS in the Netherlands and TV1 in Australia. Other deals includes sales to tcast for South Korea and Series+ in Canada. Beta said it is also in negotiations for several other territories.
Price-Francis, who had a recurring role in the 7th season of 24, stars as Jess King, the head of the major crimes task force, which steps in on cases where the ordinary police are stumped. King premiered in Canada on Showtime. The second season will begin shooting this fall. Beta will be shopping it to networks at next month's MIPCOM television trade fair in Cannes.
