Canadian TV Producer Zone3 Launches U.S. Arm
TORONTO -- Canadian TV giant Zone3 is launching a New York office, with former Leopard Films UK exec Julian Locke in charge.
Montreal-based Zone3 in 2008 launched a new division to produce English-language TV shows, with Michael Kronish and Isabelle Bourduas, after success making French-language fare for the Quebec market.
But the Canadian producer, which last year made around 1,000 hours of TV content, mostly for Quebec, has had limited success outside of its home market, having produced God, Guns & Automobiles for History in the U.S. and a Canadian version of Match Game for the Comedy Network.
Locke, boarding Zone3 as executive vp and head of U.S. operations, aims to change that, with several projects now in development for North American broadcasters.
"By having a presence in the United States, we want to speed up our growth," said Michel Bissonnette, president of Zone3, in a statement.
Locke helped spearhead Leopard Films UK's growth in the U.S. market with productions that included House Hunters International, Dear Genevieve, Man Caves, Disaster Guy, Top Spot and Pumped!
