Canadians Can Now Stream Sony's 'The Interview'
The Seth Rogen-starring comedy is available north of the border via the studio's dedicated Kernel website
Sony's The Interview is now streaming in Canada.
The Seth Rogen and James Franco-starrer is available on Sony's own dedicated Canadian website, SeeTheInterview.com, which is powered by Kernel, for a $6.99 rental fee. That leaves The Interview only streaming legitimately in North America via a U.S. or Canadian IP address, and available elsewhere internationally via illegal downloads.
The Canadian Internet release follows a limited theatrical release in U.S. indie cinemas and on VOD from Christmas Day. Sony has yet to release The Interview in Canadian theaters.
Cineplex Entertainment, the Canadian exhibition giant, earlier said it will delay the theatrical release of The Interview after hackers with apparent links to North Korea threatened 9/11-style attacks if cinema chains released the Sony picture.
Rogen used his Twitter account to welcome the streaming of The Interview in his native country: "Canada!!! You can now watch The Interview! Please enjoy. It was made in your country."
