Cannes 2012: Entertainment One to Co-Distribute 'A Late Quartet' With RKO Pictures
The Canadian producer's U.S. film arm is backing the Philip Seymour Hoffman and Christopher Walken drama about a classical music quartet from director Yaron Zilberman.
TORONTO - Entertainment One’s U.S. film division is to co-distribute the Philip Seymour Hoffman-starrer A Late Quartet with RKO Pictures.
The Canadian producer is jumping on board the U.S. release of Yaron Zilberman’s narrative film debut, which also stars Catherine Keener and Christopher Walken.
A Late Quartet follows four members of a string quartet who struggle to stay together on the eve of their 25th season in the face of death, competing egos and insuppressible lust.
The tie-up with RKO Pictures follows Entertainment One U.S. Films last year ramping up its U.S. film distribution division, led by Dylan Wiley, vp of theatrical marketing and distribution.
“Our expansion has not only provided us greater access to premium titles, it’s also opened the doors to new opportunities for collaboration with other strong industry players, like RKO,” Wiley said in Cannes, where the co-production deal was unveiled.
The deal was brokered by David Reckziegel, president, films North America, Richard Rapkowski, vp of business and legal affairs, and Wiley for Entertainment One, and Andrew Matthews and Suzanne Rosencrans for RKO.
The co-distribution deal covers all media rights for the U.S., excluding DVD and VOD.
