Cannes 2012: Michelle Monaghan, Susan Sarandon Set Sights on Thriller 'Still of Night'
Exclusive Media is financing and producing the project, which is debuting at the Marche du Film this week.
CANNES -- Michelle Monaghan will star in writer-director Jonathan Mostow's thriller Still of Night for Exclusive Media.
Susan Sarnadon is in final negotiations to star opposite Monaghan. Mostow (Terminator 3, U-571) will direct from his script, and is set to start shooting in August.
Exclusive will finance and produce the film alongside Mostow and Steve Alexander. The project was announced by Exclusive co-chairmen Nigel Sinclair and Guy East.
Monaghan will play Katie, an aspiring career woman with everything finally falling into place -- until her sister disappears. Aware of her sister's tainted past and suddenly left to take care of her young niece, Katie trace's her sister's last known whereabouts and begins to suspect foul play.
Soon, Katie finds herself entangled in a dangerous conspiracy with cruel and inhumane consequences, and must outwit a dangerous criminal (Sarandon) to save herself and her sister.
Matt Jackson, Exclusive Media executive vice president and head of production in the U.S., will oversee production on the project.
"Michelle and Susan are two of the industry's most versatile actresses and they are perfect for Still of Night," Jackson said.
Exclusive president of international sales and distribution Alex Walton is launching the project to foreign buyers at the Marche du Film this week in Cannes.
