Cannes 2012: Sony Pictures Classics Picks up Susanne Bier's 'Love Is All You Need,' Starring Pierce Brosnan
The distributor also handled the director's previous film, the Oscar-nominated "In a Better World."
Sony Pictures Classics has acquired all North American rights to Susanne Bier’s latest film, Love Is All You Need, a romantic comedy set in Sorrento, Italy and starring Pierce Brosnan, Trine Dyrholm and Paprika Steen.
SPC also released Bier’s previous film, In a Better World, which earned a best foreign language film Oscar nomination. The distributor picked up the rights from the Scandinavian sales company, TrustNordisk, which was repped in the deal by CAA.
The film was produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Vibeke Windelov of Zentropa Entertainments 29 in co-production with Lumiere & Co., Slot Machine, Zentropa International France, Film i Vast, Zentropa International Berlin, Zentropa International Sweden, Danmarks Radio, Sveriges Television, Arte France Cinema, Network Movie, ZDF, Arte, Longride and with support from The Danish Filminstitute, the Swedish Film Institute, Eurimages, Nordisk Film & TV-Fond, Canal Plus, Cine +, RAI Cinema and the Media Programme of the European Union.
“Susanne Bier's latest screenplay is intelligent, brave and so much fun. Audiences will really embrace this film. It is great to have Susanne, Sisse, Peter, Rikke and everyone at TrustNordisk back in the Sony Classics family where they belong,” SPC said in a statement.
“Sony Classics is family, and it makes so much sense that Susanne Bier’s new film is with them. They did a tremendous job on In a Better World, and we are looking very much forward to the reaction of the American audience on Love Is All You Need,” Rikke Ennis, CEO of TrustNordisk, said.
