Cannes: Katie Holmes Film 'Touched With Fire' Goes to Roadside
The feature, directed by Paul Dalio, bowed at SXSW.
Roadside Attractions has acquired U.S. rights to Paul Dalio’s debut feature, Touched With Fire, starring Katie Holmes. The film debuted at this year’s SXSW Film Festival under the title Mania Days.
Drawing inspiration from his own experience with bipolar disorder, Dalio wrote, directed, edited and scored the film, which also stars Luke Kirby, Griffin Dunne, Christine Lahti and Bruce Altman. It was produced by Jeremy Alter and Kristina Nikolova, who also served as the film’s co-cinematographer.
Spike Lee joined the project as executive producer after serving as Dalio’s film professor at NYU.
The film "is a striking debut with fantastic performances. Paul has clearly put his heart and soul into this project and audiences will connect with it. We’re thrilled to be releasing,” said Roadside co-president Howard Cohen.
The deal was negotiated by Laura Lewis and Nick Ogiony at CAA and Craig Emanuel at Loeb & Loeb on behalf of the filmmakers, and Cohen for Roadside. International rights also are being shopped at Cannes.
