Cannes: Arab Cinema Center Registered as Nonprofit Organization
The regional banner organization is celebrating its third Cannes.
The Arab Cinema Center, the umbrella banner representing a growing group of Arab film companies, has revealed that it has become a registered nonprofit organization in Berlin.
The organization, set up by Cairo-based regional distributor and producer MAD Solutions, first launched at the Berlinale in 2015.
The announcement was made from Cannes, where the ACC is currently celebrating its third time in operation in the market.
The ACC has also launched an English-language website aimed at providing information on Arab cinema to filmmakers inside and outside of the region. The new service includes a database of Arab feature films, a festival guide to enable Arab filmmakers to find a space for their projects, information on grants and support opportunities and a training and education guide.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, ACC co-founder Alaa Karkouti said the organization was in the process of setting up a distribution grant to encourage international buyers to acquire Arab features.
