Cannes: Don Johnson Joins 'Vengeance: A Love Story' (Exclusive)
He'll star opposite Nicolas Cage, Anna Hutchison and Talitha Bateman in the vigilante thriller adapted from Joyce Carol Oates' award-winning novel.
Don Johnson has joined the cast of Vengeance: A Love Story alongside Nicolas Cage, Anna Hutchison and Talitha Bateman.
The movie is a tough vigilante thriller about a 12-year-old girl who flags down a Niagara Falls police detective (Cage) after her mother is brutally raped by four meth heads. The mother is nursed back to health by her own mother, who becomes a fierce advocate in terms of making the men pay. But the parents of the rapists hire one of the nation's top criminal defense lawyers (Johnson) even though the girl's testimony and evidence should be enough for an easy conviction.
Soon, the detective decides to take matters into his hands in order to protect the lives of three generations of women. In addition to Johnson, Deborah Kara Unger also has signed on to star and will play the grandmother.
John Mankiewicz (House of Cards) wrote the script based on Joyce Carol Oates' award-winning novel, Rape: A Love Story.
Director Johnny Martin has begun shooting the film in Atlanta for Michael Mendelshon's Patriot Pictures, Union Patriot Capital Management and Cage's Saturn Films. Hannibal Classics is handling the pic internationally.
Johnson is repped by CAA and Edelstein, Laird & Sobel; Unger is with Elevate Management.
