In The Hollywood Reporter's sixth daily issue in Cannes, director Justin Kurzel spoke to THR about making Macbeth.

The Australian director talks about directing Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard for Macbeth, which will play in competition. "There’s an aura about Marion that is very powerful that I really wanted in the film," he said. 

Cate Blanchett on Carol
During a press conference for Carol, Todd Haynes' lesbian drama. Blanchett warned that, while Carol was set in the 1950s when homosexual relationships were still illegal in the U.S., it was important not to think such prejudice was now extinct. “There are still many, many countries around the world where it is illegal," the star said. "We’re still living in deeply conservative times, and if you think otherwise you’re very foolish.”

What’s With All the Boxing Movies?
U.S. distributors suddenly are stepping into the ring big-time for boxing dramas in a risky bet that will see at least three movies open this year, testing the collective audience’s appetite for a genre that has a history of dramatic highs and lows at the box o­ffice.
