Cannes 2012: Film Society of Lincoln Center to Showcase Arab Movies
The Dubai International Film Festival Focus, which will include Gaza love story "Habibi Rasak Kharban," will take place in August.
CANNES - The Dubai International Film Festival is partnering with the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York to showcase Arab cinema in a DIFF Focus this August, festival chairman Abdulhamid Juma said here Saturday.
The lineup for the DIFF Focus will include 10 feature films and a short film program. It will also feature Q&A sessions with the directors and panel discussions organized by the Independent Filmmaker Project and New York Women in Films.
Among the films are Susan Youssef's Gaza love story Habibi Rasak Kharban and Emirati director Ali Mostafa’s City of Life.
The selected movies have been supported by the Dubai Film Market, which is the festival's attempt to boost production and international co-productions in the region.
“We are delighted to present some of the best films from the Arab region, which we hope will give a flavor of the vibrancy and relevance of Middle Eastern cinema," Juma said. "We look forward to working with the Lincoln Center and hope this will be a long and prosperous partnership”
The ninth edition of DIFF will be held Dec. 9-16.
