Cannes: 'The Expendables 3' Stars' Tank Ride Stops Traffic on the Croisette

The Expendables 3 stars Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Jason Statham, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Kelsey Grammer and Antonio Banderas stopped traffic on the Croisette late Sunday morning as they arrived on tanks for a press conference at the Carlton Hotel.
The promotional stunt with two tanks also included Kellan Lutz, Victor Ortiz, Glen Powell, Randy Couture and Ronda Rousey. Due to prior commitments, Jet Li and Terry Crews missed the stunt, which drew a big crowd of onlookers snapping photos and at times cheering.
The armored vehicles went down the beach promenade toward the west and turned around at the casino to stop in front of the Carlton.
One tank carried Stallone; Gibson, sporting a big beard; Statham; Snipes and Ford, among others. The other had Schwarzenegger, Grammer, Banderas and others.
The stars waved to the fans, with some also taking pictures while sitting on the tanks. In front of the Carlton, they stood up on the top of the tanks and posed, at one point putting their arms around each others' shoulders. The stars hugged each other and slapped each other on the shoulders before they got off the tanks.
Press photographers and fans made "Mel!" and "Stallone!" callouts, among others.
They then posed in front of the hotel, which has been featuring big posters of all castmembers for days. Security and barriers kept fans at bay.
Some of the cast wore suit jackets and many sported shades. Before the stars walked into the Carlton, Banderas sent air kisses to the fans.
The stunt also made tempers and testosterone flare among the photo and camera crews. "Do you speak English?!" one cameraman yelled at an onlooker who impeded his work. "I'll knock you out next time, pal."
