Cannes: First Look at Tom Hanks in 'A Hologram for the King' (Exclusive Image)
UPDATED: Lotus Entertainment is handling international sales for the comedic drama, which stars Hanks as an American salesman who travels to Saudi Arabia for business.
After a turn as Walt Disney in Saving Mr. Banks and a real-life hero in Captain Phillips, Tom Hanks is going back to fiction for his next film, Tom Tykwer's A Hologram for the King.
Based on the Dave Eggers book, Hologram tells the story of a washed-up, desperate American salesman who travels to Saudi Arabia to secure the IT contract for a massive new complex being built in the middle of the desert.
The comedic drama was produced by Playtone, X Filme, and Primeridian, in association with Silver Reel Entertainment, Fabrica de Cine, and Vingt Deux Heures Vingt Deux.
Lotus Entertainment is handling international sales in Cannes.
A Hologram for the King reunites Hanks and Tykwer, who worked together on Cloud Atlas, which has grossed more than $130 million globally. The film also stars Sarita Choudhury (Homeland), Omar Elba (Intelligence), Tracey Fairaway (Enough Said), David Menkin (Zero Dark Thirty) and Tom Skerritt (Ted, Top Gun).
CAA, which represents domestic rights, packaged and arranged financing for the film.
