Cannes: Fortissimo Picks Up Food Documentary 'Ants on a Shrimp'
The company is developing an appetite for culinary-inspired docs.
Hong Kong- and Amsterdam-based Fortissimo Films has picked up worldwide rights to Maurice Dekkers' culinary inspired, feature documentary Ants on a Shrimp and will start pre-sales at the Cannes film festival.
The film, which is currently in post-production, follows the story of chef Rene Redzepi as he relocates his restaurant, NOMA, from Copenhagen to Japan.
Dekkers is a TV director. Ants on a Shrimp marks his feature debut. The movie was produced by Warner Bros.' Netherlands-based BlazHoffski/Dahl TV.
The deal was finalized by Fortissimo Films’ managing director Nelleke Driessen and BlazHoffski’s Dan Blazer and Nelsje Musch-Elzinga.
Fortissimo has clearly developed a taste for food-related documentaries. It has recently been involved with Jiro Dreams of Sushi, Supersize Me, Food Inc., Sergio Herman: F**king Perfect, Foodies and the upcoming Kampa! For The Love of Sake.
