Cannes: How to Get Chloe Grace Moretz's Summery Look
Makeup artist Mai Quynh shares how she gave the actress a subtle glow and flawless complexion on the carpet for "Clouds of Sils Maria" premiere.
The 67th annual Cannes Film Festival wrapped up its 12-day run this weekend, but not before giving us one more head-turning red-carpet beauty moment. On Friday afternoon, Chanel-clad Chloe Grace Moretz and Kristen Stewart turned heads when they stepped out to fete the premiere of their film Clouds of Sils Maria with co-star Juliette Binoche.
Laura Mercier makeup artist Mai Quynh played up Moretz’s mint-toned feather- and jewel-embellished dress with a subtle approach to her makeup, creating a flawless complexion and relying on subdued but impactful eye and lip shades. Here, the makeup artist shows us how to score the summery red-carpet look that left us smitten.
First, Quynh prepped Moretz’s skin with ReVive Moisturizing Renewal Cream (she recommends slathering it on like a mask and letting it sit for a few minutes before rubbing it in). Next, she layered Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation in Vanille (out in July 2014), and the brand’s Secret Camouflage in SC-2 around the starlet’s eyes and nose for even, light coverage. The artist set the look in place with translucent powder, followed by a sweep of Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Color in Pink Whisper for natural contouring.
To create Moretz’s mauve eye look, Quynh relied on three different shades of Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick Eye Color, starting with Sugar Frost in the eyes’ inner corners, followed by the Amethyst shade layered across the eyelids and a Grey Pearl hue smudged across the upper lash line. Quynh used a combination of the latter two across the lower lash line, and added the finishing touch with two coats of Laura Mercier Faux Lash in Black.
To frame Moretz’s green peepers, Quynh opted for full, statement-making brows, filled in with Laura Mercier Eye Brow Pencil in Fair Blonde. And for the final touches on the starlet’s elegant look, the artist chose a light, creamy pink shade for her pout, using a swipe of Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Lip Color in Coy.
