Cannes 2012: Producers on the Move Names 25 Euro Up-and-Comers
COLOGNE, Germany -- European Film Promotion (EFP) has announced its 25 Producers on the Move for the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
The pack of up-and-coming Euro producers, hand-picked by the EFP's member organizations, will take part in this year's Producers on the Move program, a four-day networking event that runs in Cannes on May 19-22.
The producers will also have an opportunity to pitch their latest projects to potential co-production partners. Two of the selected producers have landed screening slots in the Cannes festival lineup: Monica Lazurean-Gorgan of Romania's 4 Proof Film-produced Adina Pintille’s Touch Me Not, which bows in the Cinéfondation Atelier, and Villegas, the latest from Dutch producer Trent from NFI Productions, has secured a special screening at the festival.
Among the other 2012 Producers on the Move are Arnar Knútsson, whose credits include the crime drama Black's Game and Tracy O’Riordan of Moonspun Films, producer of acclaimed British documentary The Arbor.
Producers on the Move has a strong track record of picking talents that go on to cross-over success. Former alumni include Hunger producer Laura Hastings-Smith; Lauranne Bourrachot, the French producer of Oscar-nominated A Prophet; Denmark's Louise Vesth, who produced Lars von Trier's Melancholia; and Bettina Brokemper, producer of Berlin Festival winner Honey.
