As Jacques Audiard's "Rust & Bone," based on a Craig Davidson fiction collection, bows in Cannes, the Canadian sales company plans turn Davidson's second novel into a theatrical movie.
TORONTO - As Jacques Audiard's Rust & Bone, adapted from the Craig Davidson-penned short story collection, debuts in Cannes, Canadian sales company Raven Banner Entertainment has optioned the Craig Davidson novel The Fighter for another movie adaptation.
Davidson and Andrew Thomas Hunt will turn The Fighter into a feature, to be renamed The Fight Machine, with Hunt to direct.
STORY: Sony Pictures Classics Acquires 'Rust & Bone' Starring Marion Cotillard
The Fight Machine explores the world of illegal bare-knuckle brawling through the lives of two young men.
“Andrew’s passion for the novel combined with his hard boiled filmmaking made this a no brainer for me. I look forward to working with him,” Davidson said of the page-to-screen collaboration.
Sony Pictures Classics acquired the North American, Latin American and Eastern European rights to Audiard's Rust & Bone, which stars Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenarts.
