Cannes: Sam Neill to Star in 'DxM' for Red Bull's CineMater
The film production label casts the actor alongside young talent in the quantum theory thriller to be directed by Andrew Goth.
CANNES – Red Bull Media House's film production arm CineMater has cast Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, The Piano) in thriller DxM.
The movie, described as a quantum theory thriller, will also star a slew of young talent, including Tom Payne (The Physician), Melia Kreiling (Guardians of the Galaxy), Dominique Tipper (Vampire Academy), Antonia Campbell-Hughes (3096), Oliver Stark (My Hero) and parkour world champion Ryan Doyle.
Andrew Goth (Gallowwalkers, Everybody Loves Sunshine) co-wrote the film and is directing.
The story follows a group of bio-engineers who realize that quantum theory can be used to transfer motor skills from one brain to another. Believing this will lead to intellectual equality among humans, the group soon faces dark forces threatening to subvert the technology as an instrument for mass control. Neill will play a professor.
The film is currently in pre-production, with principal photography set to start in June and a theatrical release targeted for early 2015. DxM will be shot using new 360-degree camera technology. CineMater is selling the title in Cannes.
"DxM is a fast-paced, gripping story that will take audiences across the world on a fast and furious journey into new worlds and dimensions," said co-writer and producer Joanne Reay of CineMater. "With our cast firmly in place, we're thrilled to be bringing the project to market in Cannes."
