Cannes: Sony Pictures Classics Acquires 'Salt of the Earth'
The documentary from Wim Wenders and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado won the Un Certain Regard section at the festival.
Sony Pictures Classics has acquired U.S. right to the documentary Salt of the Earth, which won the Un Certain Regard section at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
The film, from co-directors Wim Wenders and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado, explores the life and work of master photojournalist Sebastiao Salgado.
"I'm very happy that my long-lasting relation with Sony Pictures Classics can continue now with Salt of the Earth," said Wenders. Juliano Ribeiro Salgado, the son of the documentary's subject, added: "It couldn't have found a better home in the U.S."
The film was acquired from Le Pacte, whom Sony Pictures Classics also partnered with on The Patience Stone.
