Cannes: TLA Releasing Grabs 'Dead Shadows,' 'Two Mothers'
TLA takes David Cholewa's genre film for U.K., France and Anne Zohra Berrached's gay drama for multiple European territories.
TLA Releasing has closed a pair of multi-territory deals in Cannes, snatching up David Cholewa's genre feature Dead Shadows from DC Medias for release in the U.K. and France and taking Anne Zohra Berrached's gay adoption drama Two Mothers from M-Appeal for a bow in the U.K., France, Benelux and Poland. TLA also snatched up M-Appeal's Land of Storms, a gay drama from Hungarian director Adam Csaszi for North America, the U.K., France and Poland.
Cholewa's French sci-fi horror film is set against the arrival of Haley's comet, an event that begins to turn the world's populace into violent mutants. TLA is planning a cross-platform release in France and U.K. for the title. Two Mothers focuses on the struggles of a happily married lesbian couple who want a baby to find a man to donate the sperm for artificial insemination. Land of Storms, Csaszi's feature debut, also has a strong gay theme, with a coming-of-age tale focused on two best friends who play on the same soccer team.
