Inside Carmelo Anthony's Stylish Dom Perignon Party
At his "lights out"-themed soiree, the NBA All-Star partied with some of fashion's favorites, including Joan Smalls, Timo Weiland and Tyson Beckford.
Every term has an origin. For the Dom Perignon "Lights Out" party, hosted by eight-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony at Gilded Lily nightclub, the fashionable basketball player said he started the reference "lights out" — also a sports term — in regard to the champagne brand years ago in Miami. "I had ordered a bunch of DP bottles in a club and I was like, 'I'm going to start something,' " he explained. "I told the whole club to cut the lights out, and just the DP bottles lit up the whole club. Someone put on social media Carmelo Antony did 'a lights out' in the club."
Guests present to toast the end of NBA All-Star Weekend, including Tyson Beckford, Carly Cushnie, Mazdack Rassi, Joan Smalls and Timo Weiland, were served glow-in-the-dark bottle of Dom Perignon Lumious Vintage 2004, and listened to DJ Swizz Beatz, a surprising longtime pal of Anthony's. "I met Swizz maybe eight years ago," he explained. "Him and my wife [Alani "La La" Anthony] grew up together, they went to high school in Atlanta, so it's kind of six degrees of separation. Swizz is like a brother."
