Jimmy Bennett has been cast as the young Capt. Kirk in Paramount's "Star Trek," being directed by J.J. Abrams. Bennett is shooting Dark Castle's "The Orphan," a thriller about a couple (Peter Sarsgaard, Vera Farmiga) who adopts a child who is not nearly as innocent as he claims to be. He plays the couple's son. Bennett's credits include "Evan Almighty," "Poseidon" and "Firewall." In the thriller, Williams plays a nurse who is being blackmailed to supply stolen hospital supplies. The role marks a dramatic departure for Williams, who has appeared in such comedies as "Soul Plane" and "Undercover Brother." Repped by Fortitude and Benderspink, Williams also is a series regular on ABC's "Boston Legal." … Paz Vega has joined Simon Baker in the supernatural thriller "Not Forgotten," to be directed by Dror Soref. The movie is set in a Texas border town where a man and his wife (Vega) must face their tortured pasts in order to save their missing daughter. The feature is scheduled to go into production this month in New Mexico. Vega replaces the previously announced Jordana Brewster, who had to depart the production because of scheduling conflicts. Vega appeared in Pedro Almodovar's "Talk to Her" and made her American film debut in "Spanglish" opposite Adam Sandler. She is repped by WMA. … Mousa Kraish is in motion to join the cast of "The Day the Earth Stood Still," Fox's remake of the sci-fi classic, starring Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly. Kraish plays a nuclear physicist who helps Connelly's character understand what is happening to the world when an alien thought to have a cataclysmic impact arrives. He recently wrapped the Sandler comedy "You Don't Mess With the Zohan" and has appeared in the features "Superbad" and "Munich." He is repped by David Shapira and Associates. … Tanya Allen is set to star opposite C. Thomas Howell in the indie film "The Lost," directed by John Millea. Allen plays a potential love interest for Howell, who devises a murderous scheme in order to get out from under a debt. Allen, who appeared in "Silent Hill" and stars in the syndicated series "Starhunter," is repped by the McCabe Group.
