'Castle' Star Stana Katic Cast as Rock Pioneer in 'CBGB' (Exclusive)

Castle star Stana Katic and Avatar actor Joel David Moore have joined the cast of CBGB, Randall Miller and Jody Savin’s feature film project revolving around the seminal New York rock club.
Alan Rickman is starring as Hilly Kristal, founder of the club. The movie is in the midst of assembling a large supporting cast with actors portraying real-life figures and rock 'n' rollers.

Rupert Grint is playing Cheetah Chrome, the guitarist for The Dead Boys, while Malin Akerman will appear as Blondie's Deborah Harry.
Julian Acosta (Thin Red Line) will play Johnny Ramone; Richard De Klerk (Repeaters) is CBGB soundman Taxi; Josh Zuckerman (Sex Drive) is Punk magazine creator John Holmstrom; Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy) is Mad Mountain; and Estelle Harris (Seinfeld) is Hilly’s mother, Bertha Kristal.
Katic will portray Genya Ravan, a producer who was the lead singer of pioneering 1960s rock band Goldie & the Gingerbreads, which many say was the first all-female band to have a recording contract.

Moore is portraying Joey Ramone, lead vocalist of 1970s punk band The Ramones.
CBGB begins shooting June 25 at Meddin Studios in Savannah, Ga., before moving on to New York City to complete filming. Miller will direct the picture from a script he wrote with Savin.
