Catalyst Adapting Hot Brit Novel 'The Lido' for Film (Exclusive)
Libby Page's debut novel sold to Simon & Schuster in the U.S. and tells the story of an unlikely friendship forged in London.
Catalyst Global Media is set to re-team with Finding Your Feet writers Nick Moorcroft and Meg Leonard for a feature-film adaptation of The Lido, the highly anticipated debut novel from Libby Page.
The book sold to Orion in the U.K. and to Simon & Schuster in the U.S. within 24 hours of submission. The novel has now been sold to more than 24 territories around the world.
Catalyst CEO Charlotte Walls will produce the feature-film adaptation.
Catalyst most recently worked with the writing team of Moorcroft and Leonard on Richard Loncraine’s feel-good comedy-drama Finding Your Feet, which stars Imelda Staunton, Celia Imrie, Timothy Spall, and Joanna Lumley, and was just acquired by Roadside Attractions for a U.S. theatrical release. eOne is releasing the film in the U.K.
The Lido adds to a busy year for Catalyst, which recently wrapped principal photography on Slaughterhouse Rulez for Sony, a comedy horror directed by Crispian Mills and starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Michael Sheen, Asa Butterfield and Finn Cole, and which Pegg and Frost also executive produce through their newly launched Stolen Picture banner. Meanwhile a flurry of recent sales activity across the company’s slate has included a U.S. deal for the favorably-reviewed London Film Festival premiere Ghost Stories, the adaptation of the hit play from directors Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson, which stars Nyman alongside Martin Freeman, Paul Whitehouse and Alex Lawther. IFC Midnight will release the film in the U.S., while Lionsgate will release in the U.K.
Moorcroft & Leonard are represented by Sophie Dolan at Casarotto Ramsay & Associates.
