'Caves' calling to Suwannath
EmptyPrevisualization innovator Rpin Suwannath will make his directorial debut on Walden Media's adaptation of the John Christopher novel "The Lotus Caves."
The story is set in 2068, with humans living on the moon in vast colonies of airtight bubbles. Here, two daring teens break out of the confines of their colony to go looking for paradise-like caves that are only spoken about in legends, and the search takes them to a magical place.
Steven Granat is attached as the executive producer on the project, which is in development. Walden Media executive vp production Alex Schwartz and creative executive Bonnie Solomon will oversee the project for the company.
Said Walden Media CEO Cary Granat: "We are thrilled that Rpin Suwannath will be directing his first film with Walden Media. His innovative and dynamic vision is the perfect fit for a film that requires the creation of the vast intricate worlds depicted in the story."
An innovator in the previsualization field, Suwannath has developed previscq on the "Chronicles of Narnia" films, "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," the "X-Men" films and the "Matrix" trilogy.
